So Far Behind It’s Not Funny

Not only do I have a stack of comics I haven't read yet (like 7 issues of Nova), but I also added a huge bunch yesterday. What I did get to reading today was the first four issues of Salvation Run.

I picked these up totally on a whim, and though about just buying the first one or maybe two, and seeing if I like it. I decided "screw it" and got all four that are out currently. It's a 7 issue series, so there's only three to go, which also means that I'm pretty locked in for the whole run.

The idea is pretty simple. Checkmate has rounded up a huge bunch of criminals, and shipped them off to some planet in the middle of no where via Boom Tube. Checkmate thought the planet was a nice place, but in reality the whole thing is geared toward killing the criminals, so they spend their time fighting for their lives. Reminds me of a Ray Liotta movie named No Escape. Bet that's not where they got the idea though.

The books been fun so far. The criminals are everyone from no names like Tapeworm, Effigy and Girder (at least no names to me), to some of the big badguys like Joker and Lex Luthor. Those two of course are the most popular of the criminals, and because of that they've split into two factions. Luthor's faction is trying to build a Boom Tube to get back to Earth, and well, the Joker's group is just sort of hanging out. Joker not exactly being the greatest of leaders.

I'm interested to see where it's going to go. There's too many big names not to get at least some of them back to Earth, but there's already been a bit of a body count (Hellhound did NOT go out well) and I'm hoping it'll wrap up nicely. In fact, I'd actually rather see this go for a good little while, rather than just three more issues.

Well just have to see if it's a good ending, or one that makes me wish I had never started buying comics again.
