Drunken Comics Rage

Alright, just read Thor #5 and I have mixed feeling about the whole thing.

**Freaking spoiler alert in case you haven't read it yet and hate that sort of thing**

Alright, so the whole thing with The Destroyer I was ok with, since it was a fight scene and all, but not being an old school Thor reader, it really wasn't an "that's cool!" kind of thing for me. If you don't know what The Destroyer is either, you can look it up here at the Wikipedia site.

Then there's the whole Loki being resurrected as a chick thing. I guess it really isn't a big deal to me or anything like that, but I'm at a loss as to why they would bother. Maybe they have some plot coming up with it, maybe they lost a bet somewhere, whatever. More than likely it was just done to be different, and I hate any time they change a character for that reason. I'll cut them some slack for the time being though, and see how they play it out.

The ending, at least for me, was really what made the comic. Why you might ask? Because I'm a sucker for anything involving Dr. Doom. No idea why, I just like character. Kind of like I enjoy the Joker. If used right, it's always a bonus.

I also like that the whole thing was just a plot to get Loki, and some other bad guys, brought back. It's more or less just sort of a cheap way to get all the old Asgard villains back into play, but I'm totally ok with that since I think they did it well. On the flip side of that, as Thor, I probably would have crushed in Loki's skull the second I knew it was him…..er her in this case, but Loki is one of the all time Thor bad guys, so it'd be hard just to get rid of…her.

I also liked how they had everyone show up for cake. a little humor is always good. Plus, cake rocks. 

Overall I'm still enjoying Thor, and I'm looking forward to the new issue. It's seems in this one we've turned the corner on the whole finding every Asgardian ever plot line, though some of that might still play out. I was worried that it was just going to be issue after issue of "In this one Thor finds Blah", so it's a good thing they got through most of it swiftly.  Looking forward to issue #6, but seeing as I'm behind a couple weeks at the moment, it might already be out for all I know.
