Annihilation Conquest: Please Be Good

I'd like to say that this was a review, but it ain't.

I wanted to get the original Annihilation series that's now collected in hardback. I liked the characters in it, and it sounded like a cool idea overall. The plan was to pick up the three hardbacks for fairly cheap at the San Diego Comic Convention. I figured that a few places would have them, and someone would have to have a sale, even if I had to wait until the last day to snag them. None of that happened.

Only a few places even had any them, and those that did only had #2 or #3 for some reason. No one had them on sale at any point either. Kind of put a crimp in the whole plan.

That brings us to the current series, Annihilation: Conquest. I started picking them up because I was going to get the first series, and figured I might as well get the second. That has the potential to be a bad idea. First off, I have no idea if I'm even going to like the first series. If I don't, pretty sure I shouldn't have picked up Conquest then. The other problem I have is that I'd really like to read the first series…well…first, because I'm sure the second one builds on that at least a little bit. I may not need to read the first to understand the second, but it'd be damn nice. All of that means that I would have to shell out somewhere around $100 bucks to get the first series.

Another annoying thing about this is that I have read none of the second series. I have like 16 comics just sitting around, waiting on me to get a hold of, and read, the first series. What if I don't like it at all? Then I've wasted a lot of money on something that I shouldn't have even bought in the first place.

The worst part of the whole thing? It's all my damn fault. Me doing, possibly, stupid shit like this was one of the major reasons that I stopped buying comics in the first place. It turned into a damn expensive habit.

Is there a moral to this story? Of course not. All it means is that I might really be getting my drink on when I decide to just suck it up and read the second series, and/or buy the first one. Which means they'll be at least one more post concerning a review, or me freaking out because I spent $150 or more on crap.

Wish me luck.

Or better yet, if you've been reading the second series, hit the comment link below and let me know how it is.
