Ghost Rider Review
Yeah, I know, the movie came out a while ago. Yet I have a 62-inch HD TV and ever since buying it, I'm much happier to spend $5 on a movie and sit and watch it at home. I still catch some at the theater, but it has to be something I really want to see. For almost everything else, I'm happy to wait for it on DVD.
I'm going to skip the usual "what the movie is about" stuff, and get right to what I thought.
I enjoyed the movie because it really didn't take itself too seriously. Plus it's an origin movie, and much like their comic book counter parts, they're not all that exciting. Mostly because of the low asskicking to story ratio. You have to let everyone know who the characters are, where they came from, blah, blah, blah. This is why for these sort of movies, i look forward to the second ones. All of the non-comic book types know the basic idea from the first one, and they can just get on with it.
There were a few things that were somewhat bad in the movie. I didn't like Wes Bently as Blackheart. Not that he did a bad job, but he just didn't strike me a the Son of the Devil. Though he did kind of go along with the rest of the movie and the earth/wind/water demons who also sucked, as kind of campy and not scary at all.
If your just looking to be entertained for a while, it's not a bad movie. It's light hearted, not too serious, and not too long. Don't get your hopes too high though.
