Travel Planners. Worst. Company. Ever.

I had a really nice, long rant about how bad the company Travel Planners is. If you don't know they're the company, for some ungodly reason, that the San Diego Comic Convention uses to get people discounts on hotel rooms. However, my post was nuked when, at the end of it of course, my browser freaked out and I lost everything.

The title of this post really gets my point across I think. They're system is terrible, breaks down every year, and the waiting room thing that they installed this year actually made things worse.

I cannot understand why the Con uses this company year after year, when they do nothing but get worse.

The really sad thing is, that if I hadn't have already bought my plane ticket with credit card points that aren't refundable (like the idiot I am)  I probably wouldn't be going at all. Although I'm going to have to take another look at the whole points thing.

Next year I plan on going to the New York convention. It seemed to have pretty much everything the San Diego one has, it's a hell of a lot closer, more hotels, and I have a number of friends there that I could crash with if I wanted to.

I'll really miss San Diego, as it really is one of my top three places I would like to move to. Plus, hitting the NY Con just won't be the same, and I'm sure not as good. It'll be worth it though, for the simple fact that I won't have to stress at all about getting a hotel through Travel Planners.

It does sound kind of harsh to kick the Con to the curb just for the utter lack of comptence of Travel Planners, but it's why spend the extra money for basically the same Con,and deal with the hassle when you don't need to?
