The Secret Invasion Panel at SDCC
This was a pretty good panel, in that they mentioned more than a few interesting things about the series itself, and what comes next.
– Who will rule?
Hopefully I'm not actually spoiling anything when I say this, but the Skulls probably aren't going to overtake the Earth. After SI, there's only going to be a few galactic races that haven't been beat up on yet, and this is about what happens next. You should start seeing these "Who will rule?" teasers start popping up soon. All of that will lead to the next big thing which is…
— War of Kings
This looks like it's going to be the next big to-do after SI. The interesting thing is that it will also involve all of the cosmic heroes, such as Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy. Kings should start early next year, and it was mentioned that all of the fallout between SI, the two Annihilation series, and anything else will all sort of come crashing together in this series. Black Bolt seems like he's going to be making a comeback, and I think the rumor is that the Shi'ar will be involved. I love the cosmic characters, so I'm looking forward to that one.
– Skrulls after Secret Invasion?
It was mentioned that some Skrulls, who are heroes at the moment, may not die in SI. They didn't really give anything else more than that, so it could be anything from a few Skrulls surviving to become bad guys, to some Skrull hero deciding he wants to stay as that hero. Though it could be a big bunch of nothing too.
– Punisher in Secret Invasion
Someone asked if Punisher was going to be showing up anytime soon, and they did mention that he will be popping up in SI at some point.
That was about all the good things for the SI stuff, but since it was still a Marvel panel, a few more things popped up:
– Brand New Day fallout
I'm so freaking sick of these questions that it makes me want to set the people that ask them on fire. Someone brought up the continuity questions again, and Quesada said that all of that will be addressed in the next 12 - 14 months, and that they do have a plan to explain it all.
– Spiderwoman Ongoing Series
This was interesting, because currently Spiderwoman is a Skrull. Not just any Skrull either, but the Queen herself. There was also a little teaser about who might be wearing the mask. Your guess is as good as mine on this one (actually, probably better).
– Layla Miller (she knows things)
Someone asked about her, and they did confirm that she would be showing up in the pages of X-Factor, but didn't really say when.
– The Hood
Ok, he an alright character, but it was mentioned that not only will he be around, but that they are grooming him to be a Doctor Doom level of bad guy. Well, they better do a hell of a lot more grooming, because I don't find him that interesting at all. I'm sorry, you can't be a world threat in the Marvel Universe when your main powers are jumping around and shooting a couple of guns. Maybe he can hang out and give Daredevil and Spider-Man a hard time, but that's about it.
Alright, that's all for the SDCC panels that I went to. I'll still have some SDCC stuff to put up, but that might be the end of the week before it sees the light of day. maybe something like a top 10 list of stuff, pictures, and maybe a 10 worst things list of the Con. That might amuse me. I do need to get back to actually talking about comics though, as I'm behind at least an issue of everything.

Dude!
Finally catching up on DCR…it’s been a while (new job is killing me, but in a good way!)
But I had to comment…you seriously aren’t loving the Hood?! I think he’s been handled brilliantly! He’s totally no-nonsense. When he shows up with his gang, you never know WHAT is going to happen. He may not have the greatest powers, but strategically, he’s been a master organizer.
Do you read Daredevil? I seem to remember you saying you weren’t enjoying it since Brubaker came on (or was that another blog? I read too many G**D*** blogs) Maybe we look for different things in our books, but I’m seeing the Hood shape up to be exactly what they are promising…the guy that makes the hero say “Oh sh*t!” whenever he shows up…
My job is also killing me, but more in the “death of a thousand cuts” kind of bad way.
It’s not that I hate the hood, I just don’t think that he’s really a Doom level of bad guy. Cool criminal mastermind? Yeah, I could see that. They need to really do some more with him to get to that level for me, but Doom? I just can’t see it yet.
Even you called him a “master organizer”, which is cool. If The Hood showed up at Avengers Tower though, all by himself, would everyone freak out? Not so much. If Doom walks up to the front door though, there’s always that chance that he’s there to mock you a bit before destroying it, and half the city, in his plan to take over the universe.
I think he could end up being a great bad guy in time, I just think he’s just a few steps or two down though from global threat.
As for Daredevil, that might have been DVO that mentioned it, as I’ve only been reading Daredevil really for the last couple of issues. Feel free to hack on him though if that’s the case.
