DC Universe Panel At SDCC
Sorry I didn't get this up while at the convention, but I'll try to play catch up and get some stuff out there. The following stuff is all from the DC Universe panel.
– The Milestone and Archie Comics superheroes will be joining the regular DCU.
This was pretty interesting. I know very little about either group of heroes, but everyone seemed interested in this announcement. They mad it a point to mention that they won't just be publishing those comics, but actually bringing them into the regular universe right along side Batman, Superman, and the rest of the gang. Might make for some interesting stories.
– J. Micheal Straczynski will be doing The Brave And The Bold.
He's going to be using this book to bring in the Archie Comics superheroes it seems, and looked forward to being able to use the characters. Again, I know very little about them, but I'll probably have to pick up an issue or two.
– Static is joining the Teen Titans.
Static is one of the Milestone characters who you can read about HERE.
– There will be a new Warlord ongoing series.
A few fans liked this. I was never a huge fan, but they did go into a little detail that it was going back to the original looking version and idea of Warlord. Pretty much resetting it to 1990 like they are trying to do to everything in the DC Universe.
– Batman R.I.P. Battle of the Cowl
This was interesting, but I'm not sure if it's actually something, or just DC really trying to hype it's Batman story. During the whole thing, they really played up the fact that someone other than Bruce Wayne would end up being Batman at the end of R.I.P., which seems a little odd to me. As hard as DC is trying to get everything back to 1990, even going o far as bringing Barry Allen back, I really can't see them killing off Bruce Wayne. My guess is that at the end of R.I.P. there will be a big series about Dick Grayson being Batman for a while, and then about a year or so after that, there will be a big Batman: Rebirth or some such, and everything will go back to being exactly like it was before R.I.P. started.
– New Krypton
This looks like it's going to be the next big Superman thing. They wouldn't say a whole lot other than the basic plot. Superman saves the miniature city of Kandor from Brainiac, and it seems it gets restored somehow. Then there's suddenly 100,000 Kyptonians with Superman like powers, and it's possible that the want to take over the Earth and Make it New Krypton. Don't quote me on a lot of the details on this one, as the DC guys only threw out a couple of clues, and hinted at things.
– Wonder Woman
In one of the story arcs coming up, all the gods and Amazons will return. There's was also something hinted at like "Wonder Woman will finally get what she deserves" or some such. No idea what that means, but I've heard the current Wonder Woman run is pretty good, so look for more of that in the future.
That's all for that panel. I have one more Marvel one and the Secret Invasion panel info to put up, and I'll get that up this weekend.
