Quick Hits From The Reading List
Two posts from me in one day. How special are all of you?
Okay, not really. I'm not doing much more than posting the weekly reading list. I thought about commenting on the chaos that appears to be engulfing DC, but really it's getting beat to death at this stage. At this point it's public enough and ugly enough that I almost feel bad for Didio. Which is saying something because just like the rest of the DCR gang, I have no soul.
The majority of us here at DCR saw Incredible Hulk on Sunday afternoon. I'm actually a little stunned no one else has posted on it frankly. I enjoyed it for the most part though not quite as much as Iron Man. There's some additional thoughts to share on it at a later date, but for now I want to get to the reading list so I can actally go about reading my comics this week. I didn't make it to the shop last week, so this is a two week combined list.
- newuniversal: Shockfront #2: In all honesty I had to flip through issue #1 today because I had forgotten whether I bought it or not and what had occurred. Here's hoping this one leaves more of an impression.
- X-Factor #32: This book drifts closer and closer to the front of the line. I should go back and chart its average position each month in the list. Nah, fuck it. That's too much like work.
- Justice League of America #22: Here's hoping to GAWD that they might finally be letting McDuffie just tell a story instead of tying this book into bullshit going on elsewhere in the DC universe.
- Doktor Sleepless #7: A guy at the shop today was chatting me up about how great this book is. I just haven't seen it yet. It feels more like a bunch of neat ideas than an actual story. The last issue of the first arc is #8, so perhaps a payoff then?
- Skaar: Son of Hulk #1: Totally picked this up on a whim and my enjoyment of World War Hulk. I'm hoping for "Conan meets Hulk in space". On a flip test, it looks like that's what I got.
- Anna Mercury #2: Oh Mr Ellis, why do you vex me so? This is another Avatar miniseries from Warren that did just enough to keep my curiousity for a second issue, but I still have no earthly clue where it's going.
- Wolverine #66: The beginning of the "Old Man Logan" story arc. Mcniven art on what looks to be a cracked out Millar story of Wolverine in the future. One can only hope it's better than Millar's current FF run.
- Captain Britain and MI 13 #2: I bought the first issue of this book spinning out of Secret Invasion fully expecting to regret it. I did not. Here's hoping issue #2 is not different.
- Moon Knight #19: I still enjoy this book, I still want it to do well. I just want them to stop dusting off all the old Moon Knight baddies. You can bring them all back at some point, just not one right after the other, m'kay?
- Zorro #4: As much as I like this book, I still can't get that damned "Zorro The Gay Blade" movie out of my head. Fuck you very much, George Hamilition.
- Guardians of the Galaxy #2: Even if issue #1 had sucked (it did not) there is an obligation to buy any book in which a racoon is carrying large caliber firearms.
I jettisoned the alcohol this evening in favor of a big ass bowl of Rocky Road ice cream.
Mmmmmm . . .ice cream . . . .
