Big Heap O’Stuff
Ok, so there's been a few things that I've been meaning to post about, and just haven't lately. Slacking as usual. Here's what I've got on tap:
***SOME SPOILERS BELOW***
Salvation Run #5
This was a decent issue. I'm really curious to see how they wrap things up in the next couple of issues. In this one, Joker's group attacks Luthor's group for supplies at the beginning. I'd really like to see these two face off with their teams actually, but it seems that's probably not going to happen. During Jokers attack, Catwoman is captured, and she rats out Martian Manhunter. Since Martian Manhunter seems to be DC's whipping boy most of the time, he of course gets the snot kicked out of him. Just once I'd like to see him get all pissed off and start wailing on people.
In the end, Desaad get all set to send a huge group of Parademons to the planet in some sort of trail by fire graduation thing. I would guess that they'll show up, all the bad guys on the planet will band together to defend themselves, and Lex will finish the Boom Tube back to Earth just in time. I just hope they make it interesting.
Green Arrow Year One
I've always been a Green Arrow fan. Just one of those characters I like. I read this mini-series all in one sitting, and it gets a big fat meh from me. I didn't hate it, but I really wasn't all that excited about it either. Overall it was really cliched, and you can pretty much see everything coming. From the bow, to how he gets the Green Arrow name, the whole deal.
I also need to make a list of how many super hero billionaires there are. I mean, that seems fighting crime seems to be the thing to do if you're worth billions in the DC and Marvel universes. I'd also be interested to see how many of those billionaires were drunks before they put on their tights. Seems somehow money = alocohol. Which, I guess it would for me personally if I were worth a couple of billion dollars, so maybe there's some truth to that.
Thor #7
The new issue of Thor was a little disappointing. It was actually a pretty decent issue overall, it's just the story isn't going anywhere I'm all that excited about. I get it though. Thor brought back everyone but Odin in the previous issue, and now they're dealing with that by having Thor and Odin do the father-son bonding thing for an issue or two. At least I hope it's only an issue or two. I also hope they leave Odin in the Great Beyond, or whatever the hell the Norse afterlife is, and don't use this arc as an excuse to bring back Odin, so Thor can go on his merry way, and do whatever. I kind of like that Thor is now the ruler of Asgard, as it adds a different dimension to the character. Though I would be fine with Odin coming back, if it meant that Thor decides to go kick the hell out of Iron Man again.
Oh yeah, and because Thor is in the Odin-sleep to heal up, for some strange reason Donald Blake is out running around by himself. They did a good job of playing that off that no one gets why it happens. It was a good little comedy thing there in the middle. They also have Blake off looking for Jane Foster, and I'm going to have to hit Wikipedia to find out who the hell that's supposed to be. If you know who she is, hit the comment button below and let me know.
That's it for now. I did pick up the Invasion issue this week, as did half a million other people I'm sure, but haven't read it yet. Hopefully it'll be interesting, but I don't have a hell of a lot of faith.
As for DVO's comments here, I have just two things to say:
1. Does anyone really know what the fuck a ninny is? Or is it just some unconcious collective knowledge that it’s a bad thing to be one?
2. That was the best damn chillito I’ve ever had.
